As with many structures in Evanston that make an
historic statement, The Margarita's roots are religious. In 1915,
Father David P. O'leary and his sister, Mrs. Ellen Lynch, recognized
a need to provide proper housing for young working women. Together
with support from St. Mary's Catholic church they purchased and
built the Margarita in honor of their mother and sister, both named
Margaret.
As warm as a European country inn . . . as quaint
as an English bed and breakfast, The Margarita offers an education
and introduction to the vitality of the university town of Evanston
. . . its history . . . its culture . . . its theatre . . . its
athletics . . . and its beautiful shores along Lake Michigan.
